Extra sweet sugarcane-based spirit

The extra sweet and sometimes almost liqueur-like "rum" is popular with many. One must remember that a distilled spirit, by definition, cannot be sweet, even if it is made from sugarcane, and the sweetness therefore arises from the addition of sugar or some other form of additive during/after aging. As of May 25, 2021, the new EU legislation came into effect, stating that a rum may not contain more than 20 grams of sweetening product per liter. All products we have included in this category are therefore no longer classified as rum, and for example, Old St. Croix (formerly "A.H. Riise") now refers to its bottles as "Superior spirit drink made from premium matured rum". What was previously called extra sweet "rum" is now called "extra sweet sugarcane-based spirit" by Rombo. We have also included sugarcane-based liqueurs and elixirs under this category. The extra sweet sugarcane-based spirit can be enjoyed neat or with ice, and it is suitable for many types of dessert.
