Martinique rum
Martinique rum is referred to as French-style rum or Rhum Agricole, produced on the island. Rum from Martinique is thus often made directly from sugar cane juice instead of the byproduct molasses, and aging typically takes place in French Limousin oak barrels. The overall production process of Martinique rum results in a dry, cognac-like rum. Among the Rhum Agricole Martinique rum brands, one can find Saint Etienne (HSE), Clemént, and Rhum J.M. Martinique is located in the Caribbean and is approximately twice the size of Bornholm. The island, with just over 400,000 inhabitants, is a French "département."
