What type of whisky is Springbank?

Springbank Distillery is located in the small town of Campbeltownon the Kintyre peninsula in southwest Scotland. Campbeltown was once known as Scotland's whisky capital, and although only a few distilleries remain today, whisky from Campbeltown – and especially Springbank – is highly sought after by whisky connoisseurs.

Springbank Distillery produces Campbeltown single malt Scotch whisky, and Springbank releases three different whisky series: Springbank, which is a lightly peated/lightly smoky whisky that has been distilled 2.5 times; Longrow, which is characterized by heavy smoke/peat and distilled 2 times; and Hazelburn, which is unpeated/completely without smoke and has been distilled 3 times. The vast majority of Springbank's whisky (80%) is under its own name, while Longrow and Hazelburn each account for 10% of production.

Springbank's whiskies are produced by hand using traditional methods and, according to the distillery's own information, are the 'most handcrafted' whiskies in Scotland. Every step of the whisky production for Springbank's whisky brands takes place on-site, and Springbank floor malts 100% of the grain used in whisky production itself. Springbank is also family-owned, and it is the fifth generation of the Mitchell family that owns and operates the distillery today.

How old is Springbank whisky?

Springbank whisky is between 10 and 25 years old, Longrow whisky is between 11 and 21 years old, and Hazelburn is between 10 and 13 years old. The age stated on the bottle is always the age of the youngest whisky in the blend.
