Longrow 21 Year Old Single Malt Whisky 2023 Release

Longrow 21 is the oldest whisky in Longrow's core range, and this annually released 21-year-old whisky has different maturation for each release. This latest edition showcases Longrow at its best. The 2023 bottling is matured in 65% sherry casks and 35% bourbon casks. As usual, it is bottled at the very well-chosen 46% alcohol, without colouring or chill-filtration.

Longrow 21 Years Old has a dark amber colour, and as the nose approaches, an aroma of beach bonfire spreads, accompanied by toasted hazelnuts and subtle notes of dark berries. The presence of cedar wood adds an extra dimension to this initial olfactory experience.

Upon the first taste, it reveals a remarkable sweetness that develops into a complex and almost elegant dram. Slowly it unfolds on the palate, revealing warm spices that blend beautifully with maritime nuances. Smoky notes add depth to the flavour profile, while hints of Havana tobacco complete this journey through the taste spectrum.

Longrow is named after a now-defunct distillery in Campbeltown, which once stood right next to Springbank. Its warehouse now houses Springbank's bottling hall. Longrow was first produced in 1973 to add a peaty, oily and robust component to a blend that was being created at the time. With its stronger peat flavour and double distillation, it has been a fixture in the production calendar since the 1990s. 46% - 70 cl.
