Ron Esclavo Changes Name to Patridom

In 2020, Danish importer 1423 faced backlash over the name Ron Esclavo, which translates to slave rum in English. According to 1423, the name was originally intended to honour the slaves who worked in the sugarcane fields in the Caribbean, but it was perceived as offensive by many, especially in the USA and England. 1423 has taken the criticism on board and changed the name from Ron Esclavo to Patridom.
