Lagavulin 16 Year Old Single Malt Whisky

Lagavulin Single Malt 16-year-old whisky is a true Islay classic with plenty of peat smoke. The whisky has a powerful, peaty nose with seaweed and some sweetness with mature sherry and creamy vanilla. The taste is very full-bodied, salty, and sweet with notes of hawthorn and oak. A long peaty, salty aftertaste with good dryness. Lagavulin Single Malt 16-year-old whisky can be drunk neat or perhaps with a few drops of water. The water helps to 'open up' the whisky and release the oils, making the taste and aroma even more intense. 43% – 70cl.

Producer

Lagavulin

Lagavulin is owned by the giant Diageo, who now controls a dominant share of Scottish whisky production. The distillery is located on the island of Islay, known for its many heavily peated whisky brands. Lagavulin is no exception, and Lagavulin 16-year-old single malt scotch whisky features strong smoky notes. In contrast, the Lagavulin Distiller Edition versions have sweeter notes, as they are aged in used sherry casks, among other things.
