Torabhaig Legacy Series Allt Gleann Batch Strength Single Malt Whisky

Torabhaig Legacy Allt Gleann Batch Strength Single Malt Whisky is a special edition created to conclude the Allt Gleann chapter of the legacy series. 

This release, which has been bottled at cask strength, demonstrates Torabhaig's confidence in the quality of their whisky and highlights the strength of their prominent signature style: well-balanced peat. Heavily inspired by the spectacularly rugged coastline where the distillery is located on the Isle of Skye, they tame the heavily peated grains to produce an elegantly rugged dram that balances strength with finesse to highlight the floral, fragrant character of the whisky. This limited release is a bolder expression of Allt Gleann and will conclude the Allt Gleann chapter in the Legacy series. 

Torabhaig Legacy Allt Gleann Batch Strength Single Malt Whisky is a heavily peated Single Malt Whisky made with Concerto malted barley with a phenol content in the grain of 78+ PPM. Fermented with Pinnacle MG+ yeast and aged in a mixture of Bourbon casks and re-fill whisky casks. Bottled at cask strength at 61.1% without chill-filtration or coloring, and with a residual phenol level of 22.8 PPM.

On the nose, it's typically Torabhaig: Bonfire smoke, peat, and light, sweet, vanilla-led oak spice. On the palate, more smoke, salinity, and maltiness appear. There is a distinct wood spice with subtle hints of grain, bell pepper, and green apple. There's also a sensation of heavy peat embers and a touch of cedar and sawdust. The finish offers more oak spice and a slight prick of fire.

In 2013, Mossburn began renovating a farm on the Isle of Skye, and in 2017, Torabhaig Distillery was finally completed. It was the first distillery built on the island in 190 years, and the second (legal) distillery to ever exist on the island.

Because Single Malt ideally needs to be aged for several years, it took some time before the distillery's 1st edition was released. This finally happened in the spring of 2021, and already in the autumn of the same year, they were ready with a 2nd edition. The plan from there is to release a new edition approximately every two years, until they hope to be ready with the first release of: Torabhaig 10 YO Single Malt in 2028.
