The Balvenie - The Sweet Toast Of American Oak 12-year-old single malt whisky is the first release in the distillery's Stories series. Their newly appointed young Apprentice Malt Master, Kelsey McKechnie, came up with the excellent idea of sourcing Virgin American oak casks from Kentucky, and after a somewhat unconventional double toasting of the casks, they are filled with Balvenie aged from ex-bourbon casks. The inspiration for The Balvenie The Sweet Toast Of American Oak 12-year-old whisky was to create a more fruity and sweet Balvenie, and they succeeded. Nose: rich malt with a touch of sweet fudge, transitioning into notes of vanilla, citrus, and underlying spices like ginger and cinnamon. Taste: candied lemon and orange peel, almost like butter cake and vanilla toffee, melted brown sugar, finishing with a fine spice. 43% - 70 cl. Balvenie
The Balvenie whisky distillery, located in Dufftown in the Speyside region, is a neighbour to Glenfiddich and dates back to the 1890s. The distillery still carries out its own malting, where the germinating barley is turned by hand. Balvenie single malt whisky is primarily matured in American bourbon casks, while certain variants are finished in European oak sherry casks. The whisky is often characterised as full-bodied with notes of honey.
