Stauning Bastard Mezcal Finish Rye Whisky
Stauning Bastard Whisky is Danish whisky from Stauning near Skjern on the Jutland heath. Stauning Bastard Whisky is the 2nd edition in Stauning's experimental Research Series, where new ideas are tested and out-of-the-box thinking is encouraged. As was the case with the 1st edition (Curious whisky), the 2nd edition is decorated by Danish tattoo artist Thit Hansgaard. Stauning Bastard Whisky consists of 70% malted rye and 30% malted barley. After 3 years of maturation in heavily charred virgin oak casks, from which a lot of flavour has been extracted from the wood, the whisky was transferred to 5 mezcal casks from Oro de Oaxaca, where it matured for a further 6 months. Denmark meets Mexico, and the result is a Rye Whisky like you've never tasted before. 46.3% ABV - 70 cl.
