SBS Trinidad 2016 Rum - Bourbon and Recioto Cask
This SBS Trinidad 2016 is one of the selected rums in the special SBS Single Barrel Selection 2026 rum advent calendar, where 24 unique and different single casks have been bottled. 5,000 copies of the advent calendar have been produced for the global market, and a large portion of the casks went to this purpose. However, there was a remaining stock in most of the 24 casks, and this has been bottled into regular 70 cl. bottles in a very limited quantity. At Rombo, we have selected 9 of the 24 rums from the calendar, and these can now be purchased in full bottle size.
The SBS Trinidad 2016 rum is made from molasses and column distilled. The maturation took place tropically for 5 years in Trinidad in bourbon barrels and then for 4 years on Funen in a 225-liter Recioto cask. The aroma offers notes of mint, eucalyptus, citrus, cherry, raisins, and cocoa. The taste has notes of caramel, red fruits, dark chocolate, herbs, and oak spices, among others.

SBS stands for Single Barrel Selection, and this series of rums is produced by the Danish rum importer, 1423 ApS, who are also behind brands such as Ron Esclavo. The SBS Rum releases are generally unsweetened (without added sugar), non-chill filtered, and at a higher alcohol strength (some of the SBS rum bottlings are even bottled at cask strength).
