Maker's Mark bourbon was founded by the Samuels family in 1953, and the brand has since been acquired by Suntory Global Spirits (formerly Beam Suntory). The reason why Maker's Mark, unlike other American producers, chooses to call it "whisky" instead of "whiskey" may be related to the company's history and its special ties to Scotland.
Maker's Mark Cask Strength Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whisky is a 54.75% flavor bomb that fully intensifies and highlights Maker's Mark notes, including vanilla and other good things. That said, the aftertaste is surprisingly soft and round thanks to the red winter wheat used (along with corn, of course). This Maker's Mark Cask Strength Whisky edition is from Batch 23-06.
One of the special things about Maker's Mark bourbon is that they hand-turn all 200-liter barrels, and they hand-dip all bottles in wax. You can even try doing it yourself with your own bottle if you're lucky enough to visit the distillery in Kentucky, USA. At Maker's Mark, the barrels are not emptied according to a specific age, but only when they are ready. Typically, the age is 6-7 years, as this best suits the local aging climate.

Maker's Mark
The Maker's Mark distillery is located in Loretto, Kentucky, USA. In 1958, Maker's Mark Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey was introduced, and it has always featured the red wax on the bottle's neck as its hallmark. In addition to a main ingredient of corn, which is required if it is to be formally called bourbon whiskey, many bourbon producers also use rye, but this is not the case for Maker's Mark, which instead bases its whiskey on corn and wheat.
