Macbeth Menteith is one of twelve noble malts in the Thanes Series, and is one of three in the first act of The Macbeth Collection inspired by the Scottish play. The illustration was created by the acclaimed illustrator, Sir Quentin Blake.
The speaker of the immortal words at the top of the description is Menteith, a nobleman marching to oppose Macbeth in the final act of the play. To portray this message of struggle, Elixir Distillers' head blender, Oliver Chilton, selected a malt from the raw and beautiful Benriach Distillery, which shines brightly in various woods. It is a pleasure to find it so perfectly expressed, 31 years old, in first-fill Bourbon barrels: all the hallmarks of a classic fruit-driven, floral Benriach, with rich caramel and ash (a nod to the darkness) delivered by the barrels.

BenRiach
The BenRiach whisky distillery is located in the Speyside region and has struggled for its existence on several occasions. The distillery opened in the 1890s but closed again as early as 1900. In 1965, BenRiach reopened but then had to close again in 2002. In 2004, new owners took over, and since then, quite a few new BenRiach whisky variants have entered the market with different flavour profiles and cask maturation types.
