Ichiro’s Malt Double Distilleries 2021 Chichibu x Komagatake is a top-shelf whisky and the latest addition to the Ichiro’s Malt brand. It is named after Ichiro Akuto, who opened Venture Whisky in 2004 and the following year established the Ichiro’s Malt brand after taking over the unblended single casks from his grandfather's whisky distillery Hanyu. The Ichiro’s Malt brand achieved great success by releasing these whisky casks under the 'Card' series, and in 2008, Venture Whisky was able to open the now highly sought-after Chichibu distillery. Ichiro’s Malt Double Distilleries 2021 Chichibu x Komagatake whisky is a vatting of malt from the Komagatake and Chichibu distilleries, which has matured in bourbon casks, American white oak casks, and sherry casks for more than 5 years at Chichibu. It has sweet caramel, dusty books, and tropical fruit on the nose, with flavor notes of, among others, toffee, banana, and pineapple. Salty finish with a hint of tropical fruit.
