Glengoyne 21 Year Old Single Malt Whisky

The Glengoyne whisky distillery was founded in 1833 in Dumgoyne north of Glasgow, and today the distillery is owned by Ian McLeod Distillers. Glengoyne is located right on the border between the Highlands and the Lowlands, and in fact, the distillery is in the Highlands, while the warehouse is on the other side of the road in the Lowlands. The Glengoyne ("Glen Guin" or glen of the wild geese) distillery dries its barley with hot air instead of using peat, which ensures that there is no peat smoke in the whisky and means that you instead get a sweet and fruity whisky. At the distillery, you will find 1 wash still and 2 (slow "Slowest stills in Scotland") spirit stills, and approximately 1 million litres of new make spirit are produced, making it a very small whisky distillery. Six production principles are followed: unpeated drying, patient distillation, maturation in rare and expensive sherry casks, careful maturation, natural colour, and tradition. Glengoyne 21 yo whisky is matured in sherry casks for a minimum of 21 years. The aroma includes ripe red apples, dried fruits, toffee, and spices, while the taste offers plenty of sherry, honey, and cinnamon. Long aftertaste, which is round and spicy.
