Diplomático Selección de Familia Rum

The well-known Diplomatico rum, originating in Venezuela at the foot of the Andes Mountains, gained a new family member in 2020 with the launch of Diplomatico Seleccion de Familia rum. This rum is slightly drier, more complex, and spicier than the classic Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva, but still maintains the smooth and rounded style that has made Diplomatico rum so incredibly popular with many. Diplomatico Seleccion de Familia is a blend of 90% pot still rum, 5% "batch kettle," and 5% Barbet column distilled rum, offering both complexity and lightness. The rum is aged for up to 12 years in carefully selected casks. First, the rum is aged in "lightly toasted" American white oak casks, and then further aged in casks previously used for bourbon, whiskey, and sherry, thereby imparting diverse impressions to the finished rum. The final blend is dosed with just under 20 grams of sugar per liter before bottling, making Diplomatico Seleccion de Familia a medium-sweet rum. The aroma reveals notes of honey, red fruits, and oak, while the taste offers notes of wood, plums, and caramel. 43% ABV - 70 cl.
