Zacapa

Ron Zacapa from Guatemala is probably the most well-known rum in Denmark as well as the rest of the world, as the Ron Zacapa house won the award for the world's best rum 6 years in a row (1998-2003). Although some believe that the flagship Ron Zacapa Centenario Sistema Solera 23 is not what it used to be, it is still an excellent and very popular rum that consistently ranks high on our rum top 10. Ron Zacapa XO, however, undoubtedly offers a lot more.

Ron Zacapa is now an old rum classic, and "Ron Zacapa" has perhaps more than any other brand helped kick-start the massive growth in the rum category. For no less than 6 consecutive years (1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, and 2003), Ron Zacapa won one of the major competitions as "the world's best rum". A lot has happened since 1999-2003, and an incredible number of rum products have been launched on the Danish market since then, but Ron Zacapa is still frequently mentioned today when customers name a rum they have tasted. However, they sometimes struggle to remember the name of rum from Zacapa, so it can quickly become Zapaca, Zappa, Zacca, or other funny things. There are several different releases in the Ron Zacapa rum series, and the most famous is undoubtedly Ron Zacapa Solera 23 years. The word "Solera" means that the oldest content in the bottle is 23 years old, but it is unknown what proportion of the content is 23 years old, and what the average age in the bottle might be. The big brother, Ron Zacapa XO, is up to 25 years old, and the luxury edition, Ron Zacapa Centenario Royal, is said to be an even older rum. Other variants include the annual launch of a new Ron Zacapa Limitada Vintage rum. Generally, Ron Zacapa rums are on the sweeter side, as typically about 25 grams to about 40 grams of sugar per liter are added.
