Togouchi

Japanese whisky has long since gained global recognition with excellent brands such as Nikka, Chichibu, Suntory, and Mars Shinshu. Togouchi is another example of excellent whisky from Japan. But before the whisky reaches consumers worldwide, it has undergone an unusual process. The Chukogo Jozo distillery, which produces Togouchi, first imports malt whisky from Scotland and grain whisky from Canada to Hiroshima in Japan. Here, the whisky is aged in an old, disused railway tunnel measuring 361 meters, where the temperature consistently stays at 14 degrees Celsius and the humidity is always 80%. This allows for slow aging and extraction of aromas from the casks, and the constant climate provides a high degree of precision and finesse to the whisky production. After aging, the whisky is blended and bottled and then sent out to the global market under the name Togouchi.
