Ron Forbidden

El Ron Prohibido comes from Mexico and means "the forbidden rum". The Spanish king in 1796 forbade the particular rum recipe from Mexico, as it had become so popular in Spain that it posed a threat to local producers. El Ron Prohibido is a recreation of "the forbidden rum" from around the year 1700, when in Mexico, local rum was aged in barrels that had previously contained sweet, Spanish wine, giving the rum a very special character.
