Bowmore

Bowmore whisky distillery is the oldest on Islay, dating back to 1779. In 1997, the company was sold to Suntory from Japan. At the Bowmore distillery, most of the barley used for whisky production is malted on-site. The Bowmore range consists of a variety of single malt whisky expressions such as 12-year-old, 15-year-old, and 18-year-old, as well as the very popular Bowmore Legend. The whisky is generally matured in American and Spanish oak casks, while some of the variants are finished in Oloroso sherry casks. Furthermore, a large portion of the casks are matured in the famous Bowmore cellars below sea level.
