Tequila - Mezcal
Tequila is a Mexican spirit made from the agave plant, specifically from the sap of the blue agave. Tequila is produced in the Jalisco region and can either be 100% agave or a blend containing a minimum of 51% agave. For 100% agave, tequila can be divided into blanco/silver (unaged), reposado (aged 3-12 months), añejo (aged a minimum of 12 months), and extra añejo (extra long aging). At Rombo.dk, we carry the well-known tequila brand Corralejo, as well as Calle 23, which is "the new kid on the block." Mezcal is also a spirit made from the agave plant, but while only blue agave is used for tequila, up to 50 different agave types are used for mezcal production. Mezcal is made from the heart of the plant, which is first baked in an earthen oven for 3 days, where it absorbs the flavors of earth, smoke, and wood, and then fermented and distilled.
