Wilson & Morgan Glenlossie 15 Year Old Single Malt Whisky

Since 1992, independent whisky bottler Wilson & Morgan has introduced a good selection of rare Single Malt Scotch Whisky. The casks are stored in many different locations around the world, and in many cases, they are further matured in special casks from port wine, rum, or Marsala wine in Italy. All whiskies are personally selected by Fabio Rossi, who chooses them according to a simple rule: "trust your palate and your instinct."

Wilson & Morgan Glenlossie 15 YO is rich, chewy, but also spicy and woody. This is a very unique single malt from a Speyside distillery whose releases can be hard to find. It is enriched by a 16-month finish in a former Pedro Ximenez cask. Already from its deep mahogany color, it is evident that the oak had a great influence on this bottling.

On the nose, it is quite sweet, but also aromatic with notes of raisins, dried plums, but also camphor and old furniture wood. There is also a pleasantly bitter hint of cocoa and coffee. At the first taste, the initial notes are characterized by tannins and woodiness. There are clear but not sharp notes of deeply roasted coffee, with a touch of quinine. It then remains dark, with notes of herbal liqueur and toast, but slowly (especially with water) the underlying velvety sweetness comes through: Raisins, cola, toffee, and chocolate. Finally, the significant presence of tannins is felt again with an explosion of pepper.
