Old St. Croix (formerly "A.H. Riise") Non Plus Ultra Ambre d'Or Excellence is an "Ultra Premium" bottle within the Old St. Croix range. The term "Non Plus Ultra" originates from the Pillars of Hercules, which, according to Roman mythology, were built near the Strait of Gibraltar and marked the boundary of the known world. The pillars bore the inscription "Non Plus Ultra" (Lat. Nothing Further Beyond) as a warning to seafarers not to sail further into the unknown.

This Old St. Croix edition lives up to its name "Non Plus Ultra," which loosely translates to "The Best" or "Nothing Beyond This." Old St. Croix Non Plus Ultra Ambre d'Or Excellence is a special version of Non Plus Ultra Very Rare, as it has spent an additional 6 months in, among other things, Sauternes casks. Very full-bodied with fruity notes of honey, apricot, and peach, and a velvety soft and delicately sweet aftertaste, as well as a finish with notes of vanilla and raisins.
