El Ron Prohibido 15 Year Old Solera

El Ron Prohibido 15 year is aged using the Solera method and therefore contains rum up to 15 years old. El Ron Prohibido means "the forbidden rum," and this is because in 1796, the Spanish king banned this particular rum recipe from Mexico, as it had become so popular in Spain that it posed a threat to local producers. El Ron Prohibido is a re-creation of "the forbidden rum" that originated around the year 1700, when local rum (Chinquirito) in Mexico was filled into barrels that had previously contained sweet Spanish wine. This gave the rum a very special character that became extremely popular and was subsequently banned. El Ron Prohibido was also called Habanero, as Havana in Cuba was the last stop on the sea voyage from Mexico to Spain. The El Ron Prohibido Solera 15-year edition has aromas of brown sugar, nuts, vanilla, and also prunes and some notes of dark raisin. The taste reveals honey, dark chocolate, coffee, nutmeg, and raisins. 40% ABV - 70 cl.
