Founder Clyde May was born in 1922 and, as a young man, was part of the Army's 77th Infantry Division during World War II, where he was wounded. In 1946, Clyde May began distilling and making moonshine, which quickly became well-known and sought after in the state of Alabama, where he operated – though perhaps not entirely legally. Consequently, Clyde May was imprisoned for 8 months in 1973, and immediately after his release, he started a new still. The story ends happily when, in 2001, Clyde May's became the first whiskey brand in the USA to be named the first official "state spirit" in the USA: the Official State Spirit of Alabama™.

Clyde May's Straight Bourbon Whiskey is distilled in a copper pot still and aged in new, American 53-gallon oak barrels for a minimum of 4.5 years. The aroma is soft and sweet with notes of brown sugar, baked apricot, strawberry, and nutmeg. The taste is soft and complex with oak spices, fruit, and oiled leather. Non-chill filtered. 46% - 70 cl.
