Botran Rare Blend Vintage French Wine Cask rum is made from sugar cane juice extract called 'virgin honey,' and the extract is fermented and distilled in a slow process lasting between 100 and 120 hours. This is a 100% Guatemalan product, as the sugar cane harvest, distillation, aging, and bottling all take place in Guatemala. Botran Rare Blend rum is aged in Guatemala's mountains using the Solera system, and the 8-25 year old casks for this bottle are hand-picked from Botran's exclusive reserves. Five different types of casks are used in the final blend: used whiskey casks from the USA, toasted whiskey casks from the USA, ex-sherry casks from Spain, and ex-port wine casks from Portugal, as well as a finish in French white wine casks. The nose reveals wood, vanilla, nuts, dried fruit, and spice. The taste offers notes of, among other things, toasted oak, vanilla, caramel, and spice, culminating in a fruity aftertaste of apricot, honey, and a hint of citrus. 40% - 70 cl.
