Rhum Barbancourt 5 Stars 8 Year Old Haitian Rum is produced by the Barbancourt distillery, founded in 1862 by a French cognac farmer from Charente - Dupré Barbancourt. Dupré's descendants still run the distillery. The current director, Thierry, believes that the distillery is responsible for providing income for 20,000 poor Haitian citizens. So, even though Haitian rum is both high quality and very fairly priced, you can almost enjoy the rum for the added good conscience alone! Barbancourt rum is aged exclusively in French Limousin oak barrels, which have a slightly more open structure and therefore allow for better oxygenation of the rum. Barbancourt 5 Stars 8 Year Old Rum is characterized by a sweet aroma with notes of rubber, sweet orange, citrus, and apricot. Taste: soft and sweet, full-bodied, light apricot flavor, oily, slight bourbon/rye character. Aftertaste: spicy aftertaste, grows in the aftertaste, dry oak at the very end. 43% - 70 cl.

Rhum Barbancourt is quality rum from Haiti based on pure sugar cane juice. Haiti is not as well-known for rum as its neighbours from the Dominican Republic, who have countless high-quality rum brands. Barbancourt, however, is an exception, and it tastes a lot better than the labels suggest! The Barbancourt Rhum Reserve du Domaine 15-year-old rum is unfortunately a bit difficult to get hold of and can therefore often be out of stock.
