Nikka

Nikka Whisky Distilling Co. is owned by the Japanese Asahi Breweries and has 2 distilleries in Japan, one of which is located in Yoichi in northern Japan, and the other in Miyagikyo, north of Tokyo. The founder, Masataka Taketsuru, was trained in the art of whisky in Scotland in 1918-1920, and after returning to Japan, he started Nikka in 1934. Whisky production is thus based on Scottish traditions, and some of the bottles are sold under the Yoichi brand or Miyagikyo brand as single malt whisky. However, some are also sold under the Nikka brand as pure malt, blended whisky, etc. This includes Nikka from The Barrel, Nikka All Malt, Nikka Taketsuru 12-year-old Pure Malt, and Nikka Pure Malt Red, White, and Black.
