Rum Nation Jamaica 5 Year Cask Strength is an intense, aromatic, and ester-filled Jamaican pot still rum with a unique character! It has undergone a careful 5-year aging process in a continental climate, matured in Oloroso sherry casks that previously held Scottish Highland malt whisky.
The cool climate and the fine touch of the casks have preserved the robust base flavor of the Jamaican rum, while simultaneously imparting a deep and sweet nuance.
The aroma presents all the funky characteristics of Jamaican rum – wood glue and wax, fermented fruits, and wheat flour.
On the palate, the influence of the sherry cask is clearly evident, in the form of a fruity, dry note beautifully integrated with the balsamic character of the Jamaican rum. Here, deep notes of brown sugar, licorice root, camphor, and cinnamon are also discovered.
The finish is long-lasting, warm, and spicy with hints of white pepper and a touch of grass.
