Macbeth First Murderer is one of four island whiskies in the Murderer series, and is the only one in the first act of the Macbeth collection inspired by the Scottish play. The illustration was created by the acclaimed illustrator, Sir Quentin Blake.

The Murderers traveled from the remote parts of Scotland, which is why it was decided that they should be depicted by island whiskies. First Murderer is a Single Malt Scotch whisky, 18 years old, distilled on the Isle of Mull. None of the Murderers (or Witches) are named in the play; this has been carried over to the whiskies - no distillery names, only regions, to maintain an aura of mystery.

The first murderer, carrying out Macbeth's terrible command, is here realized as a robust, smoky malt from the western parts of Scotland. On the nose, one first perceives a scent of spicy green olive oil mixed with the aroma of tidal pools, and iodine. Followed by notes of woody herbs and wild grasses. When tasted, nuances of white pepper, oysters, and preserved lemons will be noticed. It also has undertones of sourdough bread, cedarwood, brine, and the taste of peat ovens. The finish offers smoke and sea air, which lingers long, leaving a dry finish. The depth and complexity of this whisky make it a serious island whisky, excellently succeeding in evoking the feeling of a dark, mysterious character.
