Buffalo Trace Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey has a rich aroma with plenty of spice, gentle vanilla notes and sweet mint. There is thick corn, while the rye lingers in the background. The rye returns in the aftertaste, providing extra length and hints of licorice. Buffalo Trace was first introduced in 1999 and is a "small batch" bourbon - meaning only a small quantity is produced at a time. 25-30 barrels are selected from warehouses C, I & K, and the barrels only come from the middle rows, where aging is optimal. They are selected by Elmer T. Lee, an American bourbon legend. Buffalo Trace Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey was brought to Denmark on Jim Murray's personal recommendation, who rated this whiskey 94/100 in "The Whisky Bible".

Jim's tasting notes: "The nose screams of sharp rye character over a complex layer of corn, citrus, and oak - truly exciting. The taste is formidable with a soft, oily mouthfeel where the corn absorbs prickly rye and spices. The finish is sweet, still oily like caramel. The rye peeks through again, battling with the corn until the very end. I simply adore this whiskey; the balance between corn and oak is perfect, but there is also harmony between the bitter and the sweet. The rye content adds great color and complexity. One of the world's whiskey jewels!"
