Auténtico Nativo XO Rum is a medium-sweet rum from Destilería Las Cabras in Panama, and it is none other than the legend Don Pancho Fernandez who developed the rum series. The rum is extraordinarily old, and according to Autentico Nativo, it has aged for 20-25 years in used bourbon barrels before its final aging in cognac barrels.
This is the classic Spanish rum style. The rum is based on sugarcane molasses, and it is column-distilled and finished aging in Panama. The double aging contributes to giving this particular Autentico Nativo rum edition extra finesse and complexity, while also making it pleasantly soft and sweet.
When you smell Autentico Nativo XO Rum Finished in Cognac Barrels, you especially notice spices and vanilla. In the taste, you will find notes of oak, vanilla, fruity cognac, nuts, caramel, and cherries, among others.
