Indian whisky

Given Britain's history in India, it's perhaps not surprising that Indian whisky is produced. However, the vast majority of locally consumed whisky is actually based on molasses (a by-product of sugarcane), which is used for rum production, and is then called whisky in India. Nevertheless, Indian whisky based on malt is also produced, and the Amrut distillery is a good example of "real" single malt whisky of good quality, which has not gone unnoticed by whisky legends like Jim Murray, who has given it high ratings.
