SBS Belize 2005 Rum

SBS Belize 2005 rum is a single cask rum from Belize, based on molasses and distilled on a column still back in 2005. After distillation, the rum matured in ex-bourbon casks until bottling in January 2023, when it was bottled at a cask strength of 58%. SBS Belize 2005 rum initially has aromas of leather and tobacco, but after a short time in the glass, it also develops notes of molasses and caramel. The taste is dry and has plenty of oak from the long maturation in a tropical climate, followed by lots of vanilla and caramel. SBS Venezuela 2006 rum is not chill-filtered and has no added sugar, color, or other additives. The rum is a limited edition of only 275 bottles. 58% - 70 cl.

SBS stands for Single Barrel Selection, and this series of rums is produced by the Danish rum importer, 1423 ApS, who are also behind brands such as Ron Esclavo. The SBS Rum releases are generally unsweetened (without added sugar), non-chill filtered, and at a higher alcohol strength (some of the SBS rum bottlings are even bottled at cask strength).
