The distillery was founded in 1817 and has, during its long lifespan, experienced both a short-term closure and a solid resurgence. Today, the distillery produces over 10 million liters of new make every year, primarily used in blends such as Johnny Walker, Haig, and Vat 69. But fortunately, it also produces more than just blends! This exciting release is one of the distillery's (all too) rare single malt, single cask bottlings, limited to only 388 bottles. The whisky was distilled in January 2011 and bottled in December 2019. It has fresh, clean aroma notes of herbs and lemon peel, followed by notes of dark bread and butter. The taste is creamy and nutty with caramel cream, vanilla, and peaches. The finish is long with notes of honey-glazed fruits, popcorn, and spiced wood.
