SBS Barbados 2013 Bourbon & Amontillado Rum
SBS Barbados 2013 rum is a single cask rum based on molasses and distilled in both a pot still and a column still in Barbados in 2013. The rum matured in an ex-bourbon cask and then an amontillado cask before being bottled at 50% ABV in February 2025. At the time of writing, we also have an SBS Barbados 2013 in our range, which was matured in an ex-bourbon cask and then a port wine cask, so it would be interesting to taste these alongside each other.
SBS stands for "Single Barrel Selection" and is produced by the Danish importer and independent bottler 1423 ApS. The popular rum series has been around for some years now, and with the latest "SBS Spring 2025" releases, more than 200 different bottlings have been made since the beginning.
When nosing the SBS Barbados 2013 rum, notes of dried fruits, nuts, brown sugar, and soft vanilla are perceived. The taste is long and elegant with notes of roasted nuts, almonds, oak spices, and ripe grapes.
SBS Barbados 2013 rum is limited to only 210 bottles and exclusively bottled for the Danish market. This rum is not chill-filtered. 50% - 70 cl.

SBS stands for Single Barrel Selection, and this series of rums is produced by the Danish rum importer, 1423 ApS, who are also behind brands such as Ron Esclavo. The SBS Rum releases are generally unsweetened (without added sugar), non-chill filtered, and at a higher alcohol strength (some of the SBS rum bottlings are even bottled at cask strength).
