Lochlea Our Barley Single Malt Whisky

Lochlea Our Barley is Lochlea's 3rd single malt release, and it's their first "Core Range" bottling from the Lochlea Distillery, located in the Lowland region of Scotland. At Lochlea, they grow their own grain and distil and mature their whisky on site. They say the following about their whiskies: “Forget your preconceptions about Lowland whisky, Lochlea is different. Using our own barley unique to Lochlea, nurturing a long fermentation and being meticulous with our cut points, creates a new make bursting with orchard fruit and elegant beyond its years”. For the production of Lochlea Our Barley Single Malt Scotch Whisky, three selected cask types have been used, which have a great influence on the whisky's flavour profile: 33% First Fill Bourbon, 33% First Fill Oloroso and 33% STR Cask. The aroma reveals fresh malt like in Digestive biscuits, pears and heather honey, while the taste and finish offer notes of, among other things, pears, vanilla, shortbread, oak, malt and white pepper.
