Kilchoman

Kilchoman is located at Rockside Farm in northwestern Islay. It is the only farm distillery on Islay that grows and malts its own barley for the distillery's whiskies. Kilchoman is a relatively young whisky brand, releasing its first whisky for sale in 2009. However, it has already gained significant recognition and received numerous awards. The two most popular whiskies, Machir Bay and Sanaig, are matured in a combination of bourbon and sherry casks. Most of the casks for Machir Bay are bourbon casks, while most of the casks for Sanaig are sherry casks. Both whiskies are 46% ABV, have no added caramel coloring, and are non-chill filtered. Kilchoman is a premium product, and even though the first whisky was only launched just over 10 years ago, the distillery has already surpassed much older and larger competitors in both quality and recognition.
