Foursquare Penultimus Exceptional Cask Selection Single Blended Rum (Mark XXX) is from the Foursquare Rum Distillery in Barbados, where the ideological Richard Seale produces authentic rum without added sugar. This rum is the 30th edition in the classic Exceptional Cask Selection series, which experiments with different casks and higher alcohol percentages. Reportedly, this is unfortunately the penultimate release in the Exceptional Cask Selection series.
The unique Foursquare Penultimus rum is a blend of pot still rum and column-distilled rum, tropically aged for 15 years. First, 10 years in ex-bourbon casks and then 5 years in Moscatel wine casks. The rum has no added sugar, no color adjustment, and no chill-filtration to preserve its natural flavor.
When enjoying this Foursquare Penultimus rum, notes of dark chocolate, ripe pineapple, spiced caramel, and lemon are perceptible.
