Medium sweet rum

When categorizing what we call "medium-sweet rum", a small amount of sugar is typically added to round off the taste. Medium-sweet rum is in most cases column distilled, but there are also examples of distillation in traditional pot stills. Medium-sweet rums should be enjoyed neat as an aperitif or after a meal. One of the major series within medium-sweet rum is Ron Abuelo from Panama, and especially Abuelo 12 Year Old has been popular. Other popular brands within medium-sweet rum include Angostura from Trinidad, Santiago de Cuba, and Ron Tepuy from Venezuela.
