This single cask SBS Venezuela 2014 Swedish Oak rum was tropically aged for 9 years in Venezuela in ex-bourbon casks and subsequently underwent a highly special finishing in Swedish Virgin Oak in Denmark.
It is rare to experience a rum aged in new Swedish oak, and the result is nothing short of eminent and unique.
When delving into the taste of SBS Venezuela 2014, one encounters a complex and persistent profile offering: Dark chocolate and coffee, providing a rich depth. Dried fruit, adding sweetness and warmth. Oak spices, rounding off the taste with a spicy elegance.
This combination is the result of also being aged in Swedish Virgin Oak, which adds a distinct character to the rum. It is not often we see this type of wood used in rum production, making every sip an exciting discovery.
When we first heard about this cask and tasted its contents, we had no doubt – the entire cask had to come home to Rombo. This rum stands out as something very special in our assortment and is proof of how aging and raw material can create magic in the bottle.
